November 2013: Calgary Connects with Canadian Students

November was a busy month in Alberta as the U.S. Consulate in Calgary connected with Canadian students interested in learning more about studying in the U.S. In recognition of International Education Week, November 18-22, Consulate staff focused on promoting study in the U.S. and providing Albertans with information and resources about U.S. higher education.

At a “transfer options” fair hosted by Southern Alberta Institute of Technology on November 14, Ms. Casey Bohn, U.S. Consulate Public Affairs Representative, spoke with Canadians interested in transferring to a school in the United States and distributed more than 200 informational materials related to U.S. study. The fair was followed by a presentation to students at the University of Alberta about options to study in the U.S.A. The presentation featured a U.S. Consular Officer who explained visa requirements for students interested in going to the United States to study.

The Consulate’s November outreach capped a busy year of education programming that included staffing booths at last September’s Recruit in Canada education fair in Calgary and Study and Go Abroad Fair in Edmonton. Thanks to the Calgary Consulate for reaching some 150 students throughout Alberta with EducationUSA’s message:  If your goal is to study in the United States, we provide the resources to help you get there!
