Scholarships for College Students in computer related majors

1. Apple Scholarship: For those of you computer geeks out there, Apple awards scholarships to high school seniors (incoming college students, of course) who have used technology in academics in an innovative way. The winners of the Apple Scholarship will get a new MacBook Pro, an iPod Nano, and $2,000 to pay for college costs! Not going to lie when I say that is a pretty sweet deal for a new college student.

2. Google Scholarship: Google offers the Anita Borg Scholarship to female college students majoring in a technical field; if you are a female entering your senior year of undergraduate study in computer engineering, computer science, or another related technical field, you are eligible for this scholarship, which pays $10,000 to cover your college costs!

3. Red Hat Scholarship: Each year, computer science students at colleges in India, Nepal, Srilanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Bhutan are eligible to receive a Red Hat Scholarship, if they have developed open source software.

4. IEEE Computer Society Scholarship: This scholarship awards $4,000 in scholarship money for college students (only juniors, seniors, and graduate students) who are majoring in a computer related field.

5. Microsoft Scholarship: Every year, Microsoft awards more than $500,000 in scholarship money to undergraduate college students.

So, if you are a technologically gifted college student, you are definitely good hands. Any of these scholarships offer a significant amount of money to help students pay their tuition, so I would definitely advise applying for them if you are eligible.
