Money tips for college students:
Here are some creative money tips that college students can use to save some extra money here and there to help pay for college tuition.
One way in which college students can save money is by starting a “laundry service”. Charge other students, say, five dollars to do their laundry. Doing another students laundry only takes 10 or 20 minutes (putting the clothes in the washer, dryer, and taking them back up to the student’s room), and doing this a few times a week will give students a bit of extra money. Use it for spending, or save it up over the year and students will have a few hundred extra dollars to help finance their college costs.
Also, ever notice that the student stores on college campuses charge an arm and a leg that you could get for much cheaper at a grocery store? A box of cereal at a student store may cost $6, compared to the $2 or $3 it may cost at a nearby grocery store. College students can make some extra money by going to the grocery store to buy items in demand by college students on campus (whether it is cereal, milk, personal products, or whatever), and sell them to other college students to make a decent profit for each item. While doing this once might not make a lot of money for a college student, over time the profits will amount up. For example, buy a 24 pack of sodas or Gatorades for $10. Vending machines usually sell these for $1.25 to $1.50. By reselling them to students for a discount at $.75 or $1 each, college students can make $10 per pack of these sold.
Obviously these money tips won’t make thousands of dollars for college students, but they can help to save up some extra money to pay for college. Before doing this, I would advise a college student to at least try and get a part time student job on campus, but if you just want something to do in your free time that will generate a bit of extra money for college, then give the methods above a try.
