Advice on Scholarships for High School Freshmen

Alright, before I continue with my list of scholarships for high school freshmen, I want to stop and take a minute to say a few things to freshmen looking for scholarships already.

First of all, congratulations. If you are a freshmen in a high school and ALREADY looking for scholarships for college, you are far ahead of the game. I have no doubt that you will attend an excellent school and be very successful in your education. But let me first cover a few things on searching for scholarships as a high school freshman.

Don’t be surprised that there are less scholarships for high school freshmen available. Most scholarships out there are aimed towards high school seniors (and sometimes juniors), and there just aren’t as many that high school freshman can win. And those available are usually more competitive. So if you are a high school freshman, don’t be let down if you don’t find that many scholarships, or if you don’t end up winning many that you applied to.

Scholarships for high school freshmen are sometimes also available to students in all other grades of high school, making those ones extremely competitive. So if you apply to one of these, remember that you are dealing with students a few years older than you, and understand that there will be fierce competition for that scholarship. If at all possible, high school freshmen looking for scholarships should try to focus on scholarships that are ONLY available to high school freshmen!

Lastly, relax and have fun. You have three more years to find and apply to scholarships before college comes, so if you don’t find that many scholarships for high school freshmen, don’t sweat it! You will find plenty more (and many more that you have a much better chance of winning) in the years to come.
