Step 4. Who is eligible to get Scholarships?
Although the eligibility for each scholarship available will often vary, there is often a general set of requirements that students are expected to meet in order to have a chance to get a scholarship. Many scholarship programs require students to have a certain GPA, which can be anywhere between a 2.5 and 3.5…or higher.
In order to get scholarships, applicants also often have to be U.S. citizens, and be in high school when awarded the scholarship (many college students can still get scholarships also, though).
To be eligible for local scholarships, students often have to have graduated from a high school in the area. There are also scholarships that have many other requirements, which can include gender, race, major, extracurricular activities, and more.
During college, to get scholarships you are often required to be a full time student, in order that you will focus on your studies and maintain a high GPA. You should also keep a clean record and avoid being convicted of felonies or any other forms of criminal behavior.
As a high school student, your SAT and/or ACT scores are also often taken into account when deciding whether or not you will receive a scholarship.
