Toronto Educators Learn about U.S. schools

On February 25, a group of dedicated educators from the International Baccalaureate (IB) Schools of Ontario gathered at the Delta Chelsea Hotel in downtown Toronto. Devoted to providing students with a well rounded and fulfilling education, the conference was a chance to share knowledge and discuss ways to ensure that students receive an enriching high school education. With various items on the docket, one of the primary areas of interest for high school educators and students alike is: What comes next?
Although heading off to post-secondary schooling is an exciting and rewarding time for many students, it also comes with its fair share of confusion. With so many great institutions to choose from both in Canada and abroad, the decision making process can become very overwhelming. With world class institutions and generous athletic scholarships available, many Canadian students have been heading south to the United States to continue their education.
Here, the U.S. Consulate Toronto’s Public Affairs Officer was able to shed some light, as he delivered a presentation on “EducationUSA”, a program that informs Canadian students about the wealth of opportunity available to them south of the border. The presentation was followed by a question and answer period, and an information booth in which important resources and information about studying in the U.S. was also on site.
